Team Stone Moves is one of the fastest growing climbing teams in the Texas Region of the USA Climbing organization. The team was established in November of 2004 and has since grown with confidence. The team atmosphere offers climbers an opportunity to develop friendships and interpersonal skills while having fun and increasing their climbing ability.
Our USA Climbing certified coaches have over 20 years of combined coaching experience. Our approach varies based on climbers' goals, taking some climbers to higher levels of achievement while simply providing others with a fun and challenging atmosphere to climb in. Each climber is given one-on-one attention during each practice from coaches who strive to meet each climber on their level and develop creative ways for them to excel in a team environment.
All of our coaches participate in annual coaching clinics to stay current on teaching strategies and requirements necessary for climber advancement on the national stage. A climber only needs to have an interview with a team coach to become a member of a climbing team. The coach will determine which team the climber will join based on his or her current climbing ability, willingness to work, and of course parental consent.
The Xtreme Team is our most advanced climbing team. Members of this team are expected to compete at all climbing competitions and are held to a much higher standard. 80 percent of this team participates at Nationals each year. This team practices on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. In addition to these practice times, climbers are expected to climb at Stone Moves on the weekends to work on climbing projects.
The Practice Team is designed for the climber that is indecisive about competing but wants to improve his or her climbing ability. As a member of this team, climbers will be challenged in a team atmosphere while focusing on their individual performance. Members of this team are encouraged to move up to the Xtreme Team once their ability and work ethic meet the standard that the coaches have established.
The Recreational Team is designed to be our introductory team for young climbers. This team also provides the opportunity for parents to have a night out. With a 4-to-1 ratio of climber to coach, each climber will have more one-on-one time than they can handle. We maintain this ratio so that parents can have piece of mind when they leave their children in our care. Members of this team are encouraged to move up to the Competitive Team once their ability and work ethic meet the standards that the coaches have established.
